Why Most LinkedIn Profiles Are Invisible (And How to Fix Yours Today)

Why Most LinkedIn Profiles Are Invisible

(And How to Fix Yours Today)

If you’re spending time on LinkedIn but not getting noticed by recruiters, clients, or potential business partners, you’re not alone.

The reality is that most LinkedIn profiles go unnoticed, not because they lack potential but because they aren’t optimised to be found.

In this week's newsletter, I’m going to break down the top reasons why your LinkedIn profile might be invisible and give you actionable tips to fix it immediately.

These changes can significantly increase your profile's visibility and get you in front of the right people.

1. Your Headline Isn’t Doing the Heavy Lifting

Your LinkedIn headline is more than just a title, it’s the first thing people see when you appear in searches for your expertise. If it’s not clear or enticing, people won’t click on your profile

Quick Fix:

Start your headline with a value proposition statement and add 3 keywords related to your industry.

Example: Helping Small Businesses Increase Revenue Through Digital Marketing | Marketing | Strategy | Innovation

2. You’re Not Using Keywords Strategically

LinkedIn works like a search engine and if your profile doesn’t have the right keywords, recruiters and clients won’t find you.

Quick Fix:

Research the top keywords in your field and include them naturally throughout your About and experience sections.

3. Your Profile Lacks Visual Appeal

People connect more with profiles that feel professional and human.

Quick Fix:

Upload a high-quality, professional headshot and use Canva to create a LinkedIn background that represents your industry or personal brand.

4. Your About Section Is Vague

Your About section should be enticing and engaging, telling a story about who you are, what you do, and why it matters.

Quick Fix:

Rewrite your About section to include what you’re passionate about, your accomplishments, and finish with a call to action.

5. You Haven’t Enabled ‘Open to Work’ or ‘Providing Services’

If you’re not actively showing that you’re available, people won’t know.

Quick Fix:

Turn on ‘Open to Work’ or ‘Providing Services’ to signal to recruiters or clients that you’re ready for opportunities.
